Role Description

The Senior Research & Development Engineer will be a highly motivated individual responsible for the design, development and project management of a portfolio of projects within PBC Biomed. This includes internal projects and those for external clients.

We are seeking a hardworking and highly motivated individual, with strong attention to detail. The candidate must have a background in Science or Engineering and should have excellent writing and oral skills.

A good understanding of the full R&D process from concept through production to commercialization would be essential in this broad-spectrum role. Experience in Design Control and working in an ISO 13485 environment is essential. Strong Project Management skills are required, as well as experience of leading cross-functional project teams.  Experience in interfacing with external clients is beneficial. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. 


Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead defined development PBC projects including co-development projects with industry partners.
  • Ensure completion of relevant supporting Design Documentation in compliance with applicable procedures
  • Assist in the development of the required Files for Regulatory submissions
  • Develop and monitor project Gantt charts or other planning tools to allow project tracking
  • Work with and manage both internal and external resources to complete the necessary project activities
  • Incorporate relevant design expertise and experience in projects in line with PBC new product pipeline strategy
  • Drive and encourage creativity within the project teams.
  • Support management of the R&D Laboratory.
  • Actively search for best-in-class technologies among competitors to support the development of the company innovation roadmap 
  • Implement structures respecting existing patents; strive for creation of value adding patents each year 
  • Support activities related to the maintenance of operational budgets for applicable programs
  • Design, implement and manage validation procedures for new biomedical implant related processes.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of bone regeneration through review of current scientific literature, networking within the scientific community and participating at scientific congress.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A level 08 degree or higher in a relevant scientific/engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years industry experience
